Seaside Police Log: July 18-31

July 18
1:28 a.m., 800 block of Avenue I: Caller requesting an extra patrol around her house due to recent burglary. Officers did a security check, and all was secure.
7:56 a.m., 33300 block of U.S. Highway 26: Officer assisted with attempting to locate subjects in attempted motor vehicle theft.
1:54 p.m., Southbound on U.S. Highway 101: Caller reported motorcycle hit her truck passing on the wrong side. Oregon State Police out of area and Gearhart and Seaside officers responded. Mutual road rage incident, no action taken.
July 19
7:24 a.m., 400 Fairway Court: Report of a subject that was unlawful lodging. Officer made contact, subject was given a warning.
2:58 p.m., Circle Creek: Caller reporting erratic driving. Officer located vehicle and conducted traffic stop. Officer advised subject was using cellphone and was given a warning.
July 20
8:31 a.m., Broadway and Columbia Street: Subject was reportedly threatening people as they walk down the street. He was warned for disorderly conduct. He also appears to be under the influence.
3:56 p.m., 120 block of Oceanway Street: Caller reporting person taking unwanted pictures of him. Officer responded and contacted both subjects and advised no crime occurred.
July 21
9:52 a.m., 300 Roosevelt Drive: Officer responded to report of subjects smoking marijuana. Located on Riverwalk.
10:53 p.m., 500 block of Beach Drive: Caller reporting possible drug activity at the listed location. Officers were on a disturbance call and were delayed. Officer checked on area and unable to locate any suspicious activity.
July 22
11:09 a.m., 1100 block of Broadway: Caller reporting a transient sleeping in doorway of boys lockers room nightly. Not there at time of report. Officers advised.
10:28 p.m., 700 block of Avenue B: Subject came into Seaside Police Department lobby to request help retrieving her backpack at a house she was visiting. She was unable to enter herself due to the fact that she had a deadly allergy to dogs. Officer searched the apartment for her belongings and was unable to locate them.
10:54 p.m., 1900 block of Spruce Drive: Caller reporting seeing three cougars and a bear in the woods behind her house. Officers arrived and only spotted a couple of raccoons.
July 23
12:45 a.m., 300 block of Avenue T: Caller on 911 reporting a person in large, dark Ford truck attempting to steal a barbecue from the neighbor’s yard. Officers arrived and could not locate the suspect.
4:15 a.m., Broadway Middle School: Officer contact subject sleeping in the doorway of the middle school. He was advised of unlawful lodging.
7:12 a.m., 400 block of South Roosevelt Drive: Safeway employee reporting a subject on the property that has been trespassed. Officers contacted and cited the subject for criminal trespass.
July 24
7:41 a.m., 300 block of South Avenue S: Report from a citizen that a canopy on a truck had blown over; subjects needed assistance in moving it. Officer contacted Seaside Fire Department and construction crew to assist.
8:58 a.m., 200 block of Avenue U: Officer advised by owner of store that he wanted a subject trespassed. Officer located subject and advised of trespass.
11:53 p.m., 400 block of Second Avenue: Report of a dog barking in a room. Citizens becoming concerned after trying to make contact with no luck. Officers checked the area, unable to locate party associated with the dog. Staff given options.
July 25
5:22 p.m., 12th Avenue Bridge: Caller reported man bothering crabbers on the 12th Avenue bridge. Officer contacted gentleman, and he moved on.
11:07 p.m., North Prom: Report of suspicious circumstances, after a noise complaint. Reporting party complained about security coming to her door with a noise complaint. Complainant called to request officers to stand down as she figured it out herself.
July 26
4:33 a.m., U.S. Highway 101: Officers assisted Cannon Beach Police Department with a welfare check. One subject arrested by Cannon Beach Police and transported to Clatsop County Jail.
9:37 p.m., 400 block of Avenue A: Caller reported intoxicated male vomiting by a car. Wanted him checked on. Officer responded and found evidence of activity but no one in car. Left note to have a sober driver.
July 27
1:53 a.m., 100 block of Avenue E: Caller reporting male pounding on her door, chanting codes. Officer contacted the male, and he agreed to leave for the night.
9:05 a.m., Broadway: Report of a motor vehicle accident. Both parties left prior to Seaside emergency rescue and police arrival. Unable to locate. Subject was called back and located. No damage to vehicles. Subject was upset. Information exchange only. The only reason someone called police is because someone was getting upset.
11:21 p.m., 400 block of South Prom: Anonymous caller reporting group on the beach camping. Officer contacted group and advised of rules.
July 28
9:37 a.m., Avenue I/Beach: Caller reported subjects sleeping on beach near Avenue I for the past three days. Officer contacted three subjects and warned them for unlawful lodging.
11:32 p.m., 200 block of South Roosevelt Drive: Subject contacted and warned for unlawful lodging.
July 29
8:46 a.m., 900 block of Broadway: Report of intoxicated subject stumbling through parking lot of City Hall. Officers were able to locate subject and another at the Scout cabin and were warned regarding unlawful lodging.
8:51 a.m. 900 block of Oceanway: Complaint of neighbor’s dog always off-leash and acting aggressively. Officer contacted both parties, and dog owner was advised that if his dog was found off-leash again, he would be cited.
10:17 p.m. 500 block of Broadway: Panic alarm. Officers responded, and there were two subjects in an altercation. Officers educated the bartender of the proper use of the panic alarm. Subject was trespassed.
July 30
2:20 a.m., North Prom: Officer contacted subject seen climbing into a window at the hotel. Subject had lost his key.
7:03 a.m., Spruce Drive: Caller reporting an unlawful lodger. Officer contacted subject and was advised of the complaint. He was associated with the neighboring apartment complex and agreed to move the motor home.
12:17 p.m., Prom and Avenue U: Caller reported two males trying to sell bottles of alcohol out of a baby stroller. Officer contacted subjects, who claimed they were just joking around. Subjects were warned regarding open containers, so they went to the beach.
4:50 p.m., U.S. Highway 101 southbound: Caller reported erratic driver who had been tailgating, speeding, weaving in lane and passing unsafely from Warrenton to Seaside on U.S. Highway 101. Officer conducted traffic stop, and citation was signed by complainant and officer.
7:09 p.m., 500 block of Broadway: 911 caller reported two females hitting each other on Broadway. Caller’s father broke up the fight, but the women went into the local bar. Officers arrived. Sisters had been fighting, and one left to return to Portland. Other sister had no contact information and did not wish to pursue charges.
July 31
9:43 p.m., 1500 block of South Roosevelt Drive: Mother called because she had not had contact with her daughter for three days. Dispatch was able to tell her the daughter had been in the station today to report stolen cellphone. Mother would like us to call her if we have further contact.
